I am proud to announce my recent admission to the Thunderbird School of Global Management. At Thunderbird, I will pursue a dual/post-graduate degree to enhance my international business knowledge, awareness, cultural sensitivity and experience. The degree, which will complement my William & Mary MBA, will be a Master's of Global Management.
Thunderbird is ranked #1 in the world for International Business by publications including The Financial Times and U.S. News and World Report.
As part of my MBA experience at the College of William & Mary Mason School of Business, we are urged to create junto groups to discuss pressing issues of the day. The "junto" was common in the early days of the American Republic, with small groups gathering to research and discuss topics of their choice. This collaborative group would in turn educate each other, promoting learning and problem solving. Such groups were led by the likes of Benjamin Franklin.
Together with two other colleagues, I organized a discussion around all business facets of the Media & Entertainment industry. For more information on our research and results, check out ourMedia & Entertainment Junto Blog.

New Venture Seed Grants were recently awarded to Wake Forest University students with aspirations to start new social, economic and/or commercial ventures. The seed grant competition, which requires applicants to submit an outline of the proposed project, encourages entrants to think innovatively about how they can use their disciplinary interests to create value and make a difference.
E-Paper Global. The current healthcare system suffers from a severe lack of organization in terms of data collection and storage processes. Waste, fraud, abuse, simple human error and malpractice are just a few symptoms caused by the lack of sophisticated, centralized and smart healthcare information technology. Inspired by these problems, personal experiences and by health policy studies on the campus of Wake Forest, returning student Gavin P. Smith came up with the idea for E-Paper Global. The venture seeks to find ways to combine new and existing technologies for distribution and simplification of health information delivery in real time.
NOTEworthy: In addition, my venture also received a 2010 Chambers Family Fund for Entrepreneurship Grant. The venture is currently beyond feasibility stage and entering concept evaluation and prototyping.
UPDATE 7/21/2010: Not only did I earn a spot in the Summer Management Program and win the overall business simulation, but I also placed in the Top 10 of the class, Passing with Distinction. In addition to this great honor, I have earned an additional scholarship that can be applied to the MA in Management Program here at Wake Forest University. I would like to personally thank all of my teammates and professors for their help and assistance which was vital to this achievement!
Update 7/3/2010: My group, "Lucky 13" is the overall winner of this year's virtual business simulation across all competing groups. I'm proud to be the President of the team. Lucky 13 also consists of current WFU students Trenton Langston, Lexie Zirschy, and Blakeney Brown, along with Daniel Mills (visiting from Emory & Henry).
6/3/2010: I'm excited to report that I was selected to attend the 2010 Wake Forest Summer Management Program on full scholarship. The 5-week program is business-intensive, covering a wide range of topics including:
Marketing | Information Technology | Quantitative Analysis | Business Life | Entrepreneurship | Finance | Accounting | Strategic Management | Business Law
The program is capped off by a virtual business simulation over a one week period, allowing for the synthesis and application of all of the subjects covered.
While it is a massive undertaking, the benefits are unquestionable. For more information on the WFU Summer Management Program, go to: http://business.wfu.edu/default.aspx?id=1184
